Comments: Found info on Jo Dorais' page about Henry Newman Bramblett married Tilitha McIntire, who was his first wife. My family came from second wife Louise (Eliza) A. Carter, born 1854(age 26, 1880 census GA). Marriage certificate shows "Henry N.H. Bramblett", 3/27/1873 Murray Co., GA Book IV(1860-1874), page 326. One of their offspring, Henry Tilman, was my maternal grandfather, 1875-1959.

Comments: I would like to make the following Correction... I had stated in my first query that Wendell Oliver Bramblett was the son of James Reuben Bramblett. Well, I made a mistake. I should have said that John Paul Bramblett(My Father) was the son of Oliver Wendell Bramblett, who was the son of Hubert Boone Bramblett, who was the son of James Reuben Bramblett.I have found that James Reuben Bramblett married Emily Elizabeth Boone/Lacy and had 6 children. They were Hubert Boone Bramblett b. 1884, James Emmitt, Tanna or Fanna ? , Jennie Mae, Florence, and Ellen. Hubert Boone Bramblett, Married Birdie Willis in 1903 and had 6 children. They were James, Oliver Wendell, Ella Elizabeth, Robert Boone, and Reuben D.Does anyone have any information on this branch of the Brambletts?

Comments: To everyone that reads Mike's Homepage - while researching in Old Town Alexandria, VA, I came across an abstract on the Estate of William Boyd of Bedford, VA. It stated that William Bromlet, Senr was owed 8 shillings by the estate which was dated 1762. I sent for the documents from the courthouse for verification. So now I think we must conclude that William Bramblett, Sr was still alive in 1762.

Comments: Thanks to Mike I believe I can trace my descendants from William Sr. to Henry Sr. to Reuben then Lewis and then his son Mitchel then Charles and then finally my grandfather Ollie who died in 1925 before I was born. I only knew my father Leslie and never another Bramblett. This is extremely interesting and gives me enourmous satisfaction to know my fathers kin. Anyone; please don't hesitate to contact me if these Indiana and Kentucky Brambletts/Bramletts are your family and you have information.

Comments: I heard about your page from my b-i-l, Wayne Kennedy. We are searching for the parents of William F. Bramlette, born 18 Nov 1859 in GA., died 5 Nov 1922 in Marion Co. AL. I've written to numerous Bramlette researchers and have a file containing hundreds of names, but have not been able to connect William to any set of parents. The missing 1890 census has really left a gap. I have located him on the 1900/1910/1920 census, but can not find proof of any William living alone with another family in 1880. Any help would be appreciated. Will gladly share all information I have.

Comments: Mike, this is a terrific service! I have been researching Bramblett since 1974--have my grandfather's papers going back to 1940's correspondence with Ralph Bramblett of Tama, Iowa, but I had no idea there were so many people who were interested! My ancestor is John Alvin Bramblet, born 1791 probably Laurens Co,SC; died 1861 Bedford Co, TN. John Alvin is said to be the son of Enoch Bramblett. Can anyone document that Enoch's wife was or was not Martha Watkins?

Comments: This is truly a day sent from heaven! Earlier today I found a message from another Noland family member with knowledge of my great grandfather Russell Noland, whom I've been trying to locate parents for the last 15 years. Now I just received a message from Togin Cassell with information from Gale Bramblett that fills in ALL my connections. Including the fact that we are doubly related - both on the Bramblett and Noland family. I descend from Russell and Zarelda (Harper) Noland and Zarelda's parents were George and Lucinda (Bramblett) Harper - all of Bath County KY. Lucinda was the daughter of Henry Bramblett and Verlinda Gough(Goff) so the rest of the story is documented within this site. I will be forever grateful to whomever found the Noland connection and recorded it here. Please get in touch with me and I will forward other information to add additional members of our family. I live near Seattle WA now but was raised in Kansas about 30 miles southwest of Independence MO where my father was born. Great grandfather Russell Noland was an enumerator for the 1880 census in Jackson County MO and also was the County Assessor there from 1875 thru the 1880s and died there in 1889. Have photos of the family and just last year learned which one was my grandfather as my Aunt who had kept the photos had not named each of the children in the photo. Make this a priority in your own collections!!! It is so important as to identify a photo as "The Noland family" really didn't help much. THANKS AGAIN.

Name: Gale Bramlett
Date: Thursday, May 14, 1998 at 08:35:13 MDT
Comments: The first known William Bramlett was born (best estimate) abt 1684...under English Common Law he had to be 21 to be a witness to the deed dated 1716. He lived in Essex & Caroline Co., VA and moved abt 1750-1752 to Lunenburg Co., VA. (part of Lunenburg Co., was used, 1754, to form Bedford Co., VA]. The 1752 Lunenberg Co. tax list shows William Sr and William Jr Bramlett living in the same household. William Sr probably died soon after giving his stock & household goods to son-in-law Stephen White in November 1759. This action, comments regarding his will "bearing date 6th of February 1750" and maintenance "agreeable to my age", show he was an elderly man in 1759. William Jr, believed to be the son of William Sr (might be a grandson?) married Anna Ballard abt 1760-1762, she was the daughter of Richard Ballard of Bedford Co., VA. Henry Bramlett Sr b. abt 1810, believed to be William Sr's eldest son, bought 250 acres in King George Co. (Prince William Co., VA formed from King George, Fauquier Co formed from Prince William) deed recorded 1735. It was Henry Sr's son, William b. abt 1732, who moved to SC. Also to SC were Henry Sr's granchildren, offspring of sons Henry Jr and Reuben. Henry Jr's widow, Margaret "Peggy", also to SC.

Comments: I know a lot of descendants are confused about the early William Bram(b)letts, entirely due to a number of inaccuarte published accounts. However, the records (many posted at this site) clearly show 2 men named William Bram(b)lett. The Rev. William of Bedford (Bethel Baptist of Bedford Co., VA (m. Anna Ballard) was killed in KY on his return trip to VA in the summer of 1779. His children are all accounted for by deeds naming them as heirs: James, Reuben, William, Elkanah, Mary, Milly, Lydia, Matilda and Lucy. The other William lived in Prince William/Fauquier Co., VA (1759 tithable list) and moved, about the time he received a 300 acre land grant from Gov. Bull in 1774, to the area now known as Laurens Co., SC. The William in SC appears on the 1779 Jury & Tax lists. His son Enoch named as, "real heir of William", sold some of his inheritance in 1787. If anyone wants to discuss further, please send me an e-mail.

Comments: My parents were Leo & Mattie Bramblett. My father was born in Coryell County, Texas. His father was Nix Bramblett (married Addie Welch) born 1882 in Morgan County, Alabama. His father was Joseph Henry Bramblett (married Elizabeth Rebecca Stewart) born 1834 in Forsyth County, Georgia. His father was Joel Bramblett (married Elizabeth Keith) born about 1805 in Laurens County, S. C. His father was James Bramblett ( have no information on his birth or a wife). His father was Enoch Bramblett, Sr. (born about 1757 in Virginia. Lived in S.C. & Ga.) His father was a William Bramblett born in Prince William County, Va., married about 1760 in Bedford County, Va., died about 1779. His will was probated in Bedford Co. Va. in August 1779. I have a copy of his will. I think his wife's name was Anna. I don't know if this is the same man that others are refering to as William Sr. My relatives who searched this information said he came from England in 1734. If anyone can give me any additional information or have corrections about any of this I would love to hear from you.

Comments: I'm looking for my grandmother's family:Grandma was Maude Lee Bramblett, and her father was George Bramblett. Her mother was Sarah Frances or Frances Sarah, and Mom *thinks* her name may have been Hopkins or something similar. Her siblings were Walter, Oscar L., Myrtle and Oda. Don't have dates on them, either, but Myrtle married someone named Routen.Maude was born 22 Feb 1895, although her marriage license (certificate?) says she was 19 in 1909, but mom says she knows she was only 14 when she got married, but lied. They were married in Pottawatomie County, OK on 4 Nov 1909. She was born in Arkansas, and my grandfather was born in Missouri (his name was Andrew Jackson Leonard), don't have a date on him. My grandma lived in OK when my mom was born in 1930, in the town of Seminole, I think. There were 10 other births, but many were stillborn or early infant deaths, including one set of twins and one of triplets. Mom has 2 older brothers, Thurman Edly (abt. 12/21/14) and David (abt. 12/31/19), and an older sister Beatrice (possibly Evelyn middle name-born 4/2/12). I'd appreciate ANY information anyone might have on this family...Thanks!

I know he had one son Elisha Andrew who would be my Great Great Grandfather.
