Comments: Does anyone know anything about Isaac Leonard Bramblett? He was a son of Reuben Thomas "Tom" and Mary Elizabeth Powell Bramblett of North Georgia. He was born Abt 1899 and was living with parents in 1900 Habersham Co census. Still with family in 1910 Oglethorpe Co but in 1920 he was listed as a boarder with John C Martin. He supposedly ran away from home early and maybe headed out to Texas. If anyone knows anything about him please drop me a note.

Comments: I need to make a correction to a query/information I sent out on Aug. 19, 1998, regarding Adeline Caroline Bramlett Montgomery.I have since had good reason/documentation to believe I had the incorrect name. In her husbands will, she was listed as Martha C. However, in all the census records I'd read, she appeared with various names. Including, (1860) Adeline C., (1880) MAC, (1900) Caroline and (1910) Martha A. Family records listee her as Caroline or "Lina". But, as far as I know now, she was Martha Caroline Bramlett. Married to John Myrick Montgomery. The last know record I have of her alive is living in Simpsonville, SC in 1932.Any information pertaining to her would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: Thanks for your efforts. My father was born William Bascome Bramlette, Wilburton, Oklahoma, 1910, died using the name Bramlett in Wilburton in 1965. His father was John Wesley Bramlette (do you suppose they were Methodists?), born in Georgia, lived in Wilbulton. He dropped the final "e" in the family name, but his brother Henry did not. J. W. and Henry Bramlette's father was also named William, I believe. I think that the two generations before J.W.B. were born in South Carolina. Family tradition says that the family came from France in the generation before that. Huguenot refugees maybe.

Comments: To anyone interested in the early BRAM(B)LETT family history, I found the 1890's newspaper article on James Calloway and Sarah Bramlet. I viewed the film on Saturday and will type it, for Mike to post, along with my notes/comments. This is the only known reference to a Sarah BRAMLET b. 1730's and the only known reference linking her to James Callaway Sr. Unfortunately, it does NOT prove their marriage. On the other hand, I can find no logical reason for the contributor (a descendant) to have confused or fabricated this particular piece of information.

Comments: I am, of course, pleased to post the photos of Gov Bramlette, along with the other items that have been contributed so far. It does seem to me, however, that there must be many more family members out there with old photos, birth certificates, letters, marriage certificates, family stories, census information, obituaries, military records, etc......... Sure wish more of you would contribute for the benefit of all of the family.
I post everything that I get that is appropriate for the Internet. I do not post items on living individuals (or at least I certainly try not to) and try to cut off everything for people who were not yet born by the 1920 census. Some things take longer to post than others, they just take more time to prepare for presentation on a web page.
Anyway, I just hope those of you who visit and find something useful will give back someting, for others to use, in return. I don't think that you will find a family web page with more information than this one. You certainly won't find more census information for a family anywhere -- there are over 12,000 names from around 30 states covering all Federal Census years. But, it gets expensive (about $30 for 1880-1920 Soundex for each state -- and there are 50 states!!! Doesn't even include trying to find pre-1880 indexes for all states) and very difficult for just a couple of people to order, transcribe from microfilm and finally to a web page. Sure would be nice to have some help!!!
Thanks for your continued support,
Mike

Comments: I have the 1920 B654 MS Soundex in hand (posted 8/12/98). Am waiting on the B651 to come in at the local LDS FHC. Last night I ordered B651/B654 for 1880-1910 MS.
If anyone has access to an 1870 MS Census Index and/or Indexes prior to 1840 for MS, could you please get copies of all Bramletts, Brambletts, Bramlitts, Bromletts, etc., (blacks and whites) and send them to me?? They are not available in my local library.
My snail mail address is on the Researchers Page.
Thanks,
Mike

Comments: Thank you very much, Mike, for posting photos of Thomas E. Bramlette, Union General and Union Governor of Kentucky during the Civil War, on BIC. They are a treasure...four views taken by renowned Civil War photographer Mathew Brady (1823-1896) or one of his associates sometime during 1860-65, probably in Brady's Washington, D.C., or New York studio. The Bramlette photographs are part of a large series of portraits and war images captured by Mathew Brady Photographers during the 1850s and 1860s. Images in the series are accessible online at National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) website in the NAIL search engine at http://www.nara.gov/. And thank you for posting Meeks Haley Bramlet's 1924 book, "A Pioneer Family - Bramlet." My family and I appreciate having some of our ancestors represented on your website.

Comments: Hi! I'm a descendant of William Bramblett/Enoch Bramblett/James Bramblett/Riley Bramblett/Dr. Martin Truman Bramblett/Dr. James C. Bramblett/my granddad was Carl David Bramblett, and my mother was Barbara Anne Bramblett. I've just started tracing my families and I'm really enjoying it. I have a history of the Brambletts from The Forsyth County News, September 24, 1974, but not much else. I've been working on two other families -- the Means (the family of the wife of Carl D. Bramblett) and the Sullivans from Meansville/Zebulon, GA.
