Comments: A Bell descendant is seeking photographs of Sarena C. (Bramlet) Bell, daughter of Rebecca Jane Hanley and Thomas Brown Bramlet, and wife of Sampson Benjamin Bell Jr. (The Bells married in the early 1880s and lived in Texas and Howell counties in Missouri.) Anyone with such photos can contact me for more information. And I'd love to hear from descendants of Sarena. She is my ancestor Henry Coleman Bramlet's sister.

Comments: I was born a bramblett. My grandma (she married into the bramblett family) traced my granddads family line. The furthest back she got was that a man from kentucky named bramblett married a redhead and she eventually ran off with a traveling salesman to california. I don't even remember the century. Most of the brambletts that I am related to were born and raised in the St. Louis/Hannibal Missouri area.

Comments: This posting may be a bit off topic, but not completely!. I am resurrecting an old PC at home in order to build a web server that I can use for development of this web site. That way, I can try out new things without taking the "real" site off line and without drawing the ire of my web host! All is working pretty well; I have the 2 PCs networked by borrowing parts from one person and then the next but I am in dire need of a different VGA (or better) monitor. I am going blind looking at the current one as it gets dimmer and dimmer each day. I think that I would put my life in jeapordy if I mentioned to my wife that I need one more computer product!! So, if anyone out there has upgraded PC systems and has an old working monitor (or hard drive or CD drive or most anything!!) gathering dust -- let me know. In most cases, I'd probably gladly take it off your hands and put it back in to use.
Thanks,
Mike

Comments: I have been doing research on my maternal grandmothers family now for several months. Mainly on my great grandmother Martha C. Bramlett Montgomery. Information I previously had indicated she was the daughter of Allen Turner Bramlett and his second wife, Sarah Ann Hyde. However, due to conflicting information found in census records and some other bits of information I had, somehow the facts did not seem to fit. Then last week I was in the Greenville County Court House in the Probate section looking for some answers when I ran across the probate records of Josiah Bramlett. Josiah and Allen T. were brothers. Both of them had a daughter with similar names. My great grandmother, it seems, had three names. In her husbands will she was referred to as Martha C., in some of the census records she was called Caroline and Adeline C. When I began inspecting the records of Josiah Bramlett's estate I began noticing repetedly, the name of Carolina Montgomery. Then at the bottom of the last page of the estate papers were listed the names of Josiah Bramlett's children. The names perfectly matched those of the census records and one of them was Carolina Montgomery. To the best of my knowledge, Carolina was the only Bramlett to marry a Montgomery. I now believe, based upon all the information I have to date, that Josiah and Lucinda (Garrett??) were the parents of Martha Adeline Carolina Bramlett Montgomery. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has or is doing research on the descendants of Josiah and Lucinda (Garrett??) Bramlett.

Comments: I just got back from Southern Illinois where I spent some time in Wolf Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Eldorado in Saline County. I found the graves of Margaret E. Bramlett and husband, Joseph Easley, in the oldest section of the cemetery. The markers are still up and Joseph's is in good condition. It is decorated with an open book in a circle at the top and has an inscription with his name, death date and age at death. Margaret E.'s marker is broken in half through her birth date, and the upper left corner is broken off and missing. Margaret E.'s marker is decorated with a willow tree and has an inscription with her name, relationship to Joseph, birth date, death date and age at death. The name of the monument maker is inscribed on the lower right side of the marker at ground level. When I get film developed, I'll share the images on Bramblett Information Center.

Comments: I am searching for the father of my GG-grandfather David M. Bramlett he married Mary (Mollie Lou) Murrell in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett, GA on Oct 26, 1878. He was born in May 1852 he is in the 1870 GA Gwinnett Co census with his mother Mahala who is listed as head of house. Her father may have been Garnet Bramlett if so David M. may have been Illegit. There are also two sisters listed Mary J. 17 and Nancy A. 15. I find it hard to believe that she (Mahala) never married. It would have been scandlous to say the least. Any info would be appreciated especially from anyone in or around Atlanta, Gwinnett Co, GA. Can you tell me where to go to find any record of David M. (Bud) Bramlett's Father. David M. was murdered in Trumann Arkansas in 1910. My g-grandfather is his son Henry Ocie, Grandfather is O.P. (Oscar Peter) Bramlett and father James Wesley Bramlett. Will appreciate helpful e-mails. Thanks

Comments: Though I'm not related to the Bramletts, I've recently posted some info on Bramlett families in Comanche County, Ks, at the following site: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ks/ComancheBios This is from page 277 of Comanche County History: "GUSS BRAMLETT: Gus Bramlett was born Aug. 14, 1874 at Cedar Bluff, Alabama, in Cherokee county. He was the son of Lemuel and Margret (Davis) Bramlett. He had four brothers and one sister. He grew to adulthood at Cedar Bluff, AL. At he age of 23 he decided to set out on his own. He went to Texas and worked a while and then he rode the train to Wichita, KS, from Texas. He said he looked the town over and decided a small town guy didn't belong there, so he got back on the train and told the conducter "Take me as far as my money will go" and got off the train in Coldwater, KS, on Jan. 28, 1898, with 2 cents in his pocket looking for a job (sic). A man by the name of Perry Johnson hired him and he worked for him doing ranch work for 1 year. He did a lot of ranch hand work for several ranches around. In the winter of 1908 he went back to his home in Cedar Bluff, AL. He remained there about 6 months. When he returned he brough a new bride with him. He married Rinda Head, July 25, 1909, at Cedar Bluff, AL. Rinda (Head) Bramlett was born May 16, 1887, at Center, AL, in Cherokee County to Robert and Mattie (Duncan) Head. She had two brothers and two sisters. Gus and Rinda lived on the Delair place when they first came to Kansas as a new married couple. While living there they were blessed with a son, Raymond Lemuel, born Dec. 21, 1911. While Raymond was still an infant they moved to the Lewis-Andrews Ranch in the spring of 1911. On JUne 30, 1913, they were blessed with a second son, John Claude. The ranch later became the Lewis Ranch owned by Claude and Maude Lewis and Gus remained on the ranch as foreman. Rinda busied herself as most housewives did in those times taking care of her boys, garden and helping care for sick neighbors in time of need. She was also a charter member of Sunnyside Extension group; in 194- whe joined the Wilmore eastern Star. Due to Gus's failing health they moved to Coldwater and lived in one of the Albert Oller rental houses on the west side of town. In 1951 they purchased a home 2 blocks east of the Presbyterian church and lived there until their deaths: Gus's April 1, 1956, and Rinda's Aug. 30, 1965. They were both buried at Crown Hill Cemetery."
