Jesse was the son of Jesse Johnson and Bertha May Bramlett. Bertha was a daughter of John and Kitty Bramlett who are found in Chicago, Cook County, IL census in 1900-1920. Bertha, along with some of her siblings, was born in New Albany, Union County, MS
